Collection contains personnel file (RESTRICTED), correspondence, articles, course materials, lectures, presentations, reports, news releases, syllabi, photographs, and reference material used in preparing courses, articles and presentations. Topics include psychology and religion, counseling, the department of psychology, and Summer Pastors’ Institutes. Hope College Senior Seminars and seasonal workshops for Senior Seminar instructors funded by the Lilly Foundation are heavily represented, as is the Reformed Church of America perspective on homosexuality.
The collection is organized alphabetically by topic, with file folder titles reflecting those of Granberg’s office files.

Biography
Lars Ingolf Granberg was born in 1919 at Egersund, Norway. He received his B.S. in anthropology from Wheaton College. Later he served in the Army during World War II. He went on to receive his M.A. (1946) and Ph.D. (1954) in the field of psychology from the University of Chicago. In 1947, he joined the faculty of Hope College and was made chairman of the department of psychology in 1952. From 1954 to 1960, he served as the Dean of Students and Associate Professor of Pastoral Counseling and Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California. In 1960, he returned to Hope College as professor of psychology and staff psychotherapist in charge of student counseling service. He also served as Acting Vice-President for Academic Affairs at Hope from 1965 until 1966, when he accepted the position of president of Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa, a position he maintained until August 1975. He then returned to Hope College to serve as Dean of Social Sciences from 1975 1978, returning to the psychology department from 1978-1984.
Lars I. Granberg passed away in 2011.
