Scope and Contents
The Cornelius Doesburg Papers contain a Hope College Council resolution appointing him chair of the Department of Modern Languages, bookkeeper, and editor of De Hope, a memorial of his life, and a photograph album, which includes a picture of Doesburg as well as some Japanese students at Hope College.

Biography
Cornelius Doesburg was appointed chair of the Hope College Department of Modern Languages in 1866. He served in this capacity until his retirement. During this time period he also served as college bookkeeper and editor of a religious newspaper, De Hope.
