Academic Affairs Board. Records, 1963-[ongoing].

Identifier: H89-1052

Scope and Contents

There are four series that make up the Academic Affairs Board collection. They include the CHAIRMAN’S RECORD, CORRESPONDENCE, BOARD FILES, and MINUTES.

The CHAIRMAN’S RECORD series (1975-1992) is comprised of materials the chair of the committee maintained in a ring binder. There is some duplication with the BOARD FILES. This material is arranged in original, roughly chronological order.

CORRESPONDENCE (1977-1989) is mainly composed of letters written to the chairman or the committee by various members of the Hope community. They reflect some of the topics covered in the BOARD FILES.

The BOARD FILES series (1978-1989) represents the core of the collection and is arranged topically. Curriculum development, how student grading is handled, library issues, international education, and grade inflation are a few of the issues covered here.

Finally, the MINUTES series (1968-ongoing) includes the minutes of the Academic Affairs Board. These files were transferred to this collection from archives files. Prior to 1989 the minutes contain some supporting materials for board meetings.
