The collection includes mainly correspondence from her father, friends, and especially Laura Boyd (another professor at Hope College). Many of the letters relate to her position at Hope College. Biography

Eva Van Schaack graduated from Hope College, where she focused on botany, in 1929. From 1931 to 1937, she attended the School of Higher Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Johns Hopkins University. While there, Van Schaack taught and worked as a laboratory assistant. Van Schaack taught at many different schools: assistant professor of botany at Kalamazoo College, 1946-1947; assistant professor of plant science at Mount Holyoke College, 1948-195; associate professor of biology at Wheaton College, 1953-1956; professor at Hope College, 1956-1969. She was a member of Sigma Xi.

Dr. Eva Van Schaack passed away on October 1, 1981, in Holland, Michigan.
