This collection consists of biographical information, materials relating to Gysbert Haan and includes a letter to Paulus den Blijker of Grand Rapids in 1857, a 19th century journal written in Dutch, and a 1925 family reunion of the descendents of Haan.

Biography
Consistory member and opponent of A. C. Van Raalte, Gysbert Haan of Grand Rapids, Michigan, took part in the 1857 secession which eventually formed the Christian Reformed Church. Born in 1801 in Hilversum, the Netherlands, Haan emigrated with his wife, Maraetje, to the Holland area with the original wave of settlers in 1847. They had eight children before emigrating: Tymetje (1820), Magdalena (1821), Gysbert (1824), Peterus (1830), Nicholas (1832), Maeretje (1834), Wyntje (1836), Tyme (1839), Jacob (1841), Aagje (1846).
Gysbert Haan died in 1874.
