The papers of Morrette Rider are arranged alphabetically by topical heading. His correspondence includes few personal letters and several received during his positions of professor and dean between the years 1947-1975. Reports of the several departments, as well as programs set up by Hope College departments from 1966-1974, are included.

Biography
Morrette LeRoy Rider was born in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. He attended the University of Michigan and earned a BMus. in 1942, M.A. in music in 1947, and Columbia University to earn his EdD. in 1955. He accepted the position of teaching music at Hope College and while in such position, he established the Hope Symphonette, directing several performances. Rider also hosted a musical talk show for Time-Life Television and radio series for three years from 1964. He accepted the position of Dean of Academic Affairs in 1967, administrating several international education programs, as well as inter-city programs, such as the Philadelphia Program. In 1975, he moved on to be the Dean of the School of Music at the University of Oregon, until he retired in 1986. He died January 12, 2008, in Eugene, Oregon.
