Abstract Lawrence J. Green was born in Fulton, Illinois, in 1923. He graduated from Central College in Pella, Iowa, and then served in the Navy during World War II. After the war, he continued his studies at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, earning his master’s degree in 1950, then continued on to earn his doctorate from the University of Iowa in 1955.
